Last week Jay had his change of command ceremony. He took over as the Garrison HHT Company Commander. The ceremony was pretty great. A lot of nice things were said about both the outgoing commander and Jay. This position is going to be completely different for Jay. It will be a new challenge with a lot of rewards! After the ceremony, the guys had a reception with an $80 cake! It sure was tasty!! I'm really looking forward to the next year with Jay in the position he is. He will be awfully busy, but will be making change strides in the community!
The really expensive cake... that we are still eating a week later!
The Garrison commander, handing company command over to Jay.
Listening to Jay's speech! He did a great job up there!

Celebrating afterwards... Jay with all the ladies, and baby James!
(Thanks, Jon, for taking the pictures! We really appreciate it!!)
Why have I been so busy.... I accepted a full time job teaching at the middle school on post. I didn't keep my job from last year because we thought we would be moving right about now. Because I didn't think I would be around all school year, I wasn't able to keep the job. So I spent the beginning of this year subbing in the elementary. In December, I received a phone call asking if I would be interested in a math job. I jumped on it and started at semester. It has been a great start so far. I wasn't sure how I would do with middle schoolers, but I'm really enjoying them. I definitely had to get used to eighth grade male hormones!! They would make me laugh even though I probably shouldn't have been! It's just funny what their minds come up with! I'm teaching three classes of 6th grade math, one class of 8th grade math, and a 7th/8th grade mixed class called Research Projects. All the prep and planning takes up my spare time, but I definitely wouldn't trade it!
With Jay in his new job and me in mine, we'll both be working some long days!
