Leaving TOMORROW
Can you believe the time has come for me to leave to Germany already. I thought the summer would take forever! We both stayed busy enough that the time flew. Now we finally get to be together. Jay has the house cleaned up and ready for me. I have all of my bags packed and sitting in the dining room ready to go. You would think I was leaving today! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 days and Counting
I have a plane ticket for next Tuesday!! We are getting so close!! Now is when it gets hard to be patient. I leave from Cedar Rapids Tuesday afternoon and will arrive in Frankfurt on Wednesday morning. Jay will be there waiting for me to take me to our first apartment together!
Jay has the place full already. After the govenment filled the apartment with furniture, the moving company came the next day and dropped off both of our shipments. He's been busy trying to find a home for everything. I'm so curious to see how it looks by now! Jay's been staying there the past few nights and is getting used to it. He'll have to start all over once he gets his roommate...me!!!

Inside the Apartment
Jay finally has the keys! It's official. We have an apartment!! Jay put a bunch of pictures on picasa of each room. He also made a drawing of the floor plan. It really helps to understand the apartment. The floors are all tile, except for the two bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, but each have something different in them. The first one has a shower, sink, washer, and dryer. The second one has a stool and sink. The kitchen is getting redone in the next 12 weeks. It will have all new cabinets and a new counter. That will be really nice! There are two bedrooms, but one may be made into a closet. Houses in Germany don't have closets. That will be different for us. We are both excited to get in and start making it look like home. We definitely are going to be purchasing some rugs to help it seem a little more like home.

Dodge Neon
Jay met with the lady today to check out the car. After going for a ride, he decided it's a go. The lady leaves next week to head back here, so he will get the car on Monday. It's not huge, but will be enough for the two of us. We got a good deal on it and it comes at a time when we need it. We hope it will work out well for us.
A step closer
Jay's been in Germany for three days and has already accomplished a lot. Between all of his inprocessing and meetings, he has managed to find us a two bedroom apartment in a real nice neighborhood. (It's the green one) He got my papers today saying I am command sponsored. That is a huge step!! He signs for the apartment on Friday, and then is heading over to get me on his orders. That should take an hour. After that, he is going to the travel office to get started on flights and shipping. He is looking at a Dodge Neon today that is owned by an older nurse who is heading back to the states. I am anxious to hear what he has to say about it. We're getting closer and my smile is getting bigger!!
To see more pictures of the neighborhood, Jay's picasa site has a whole bunch!

Jay is finally home!
It's four in the morning and I'm waiting for Jay to get online so I can talk to him. He just got back to Germany yesterday after a long four months in Afghanistan. I am so excited that he is home and that I get to head over to be with him soon. The time won't go fast enough. I can't wait to get our home set up, to travel all over Europe, and simply to enjoy every second I have with Jay. What a joy it will be!!
